Abstract
Background: Obesity is a problem that is quite worrying among teenagers. The habits of today's teenagers because of the rapid development of the times, the increasing consumption of fast food, and the lack of physical activity are some of the factors that contribute to changes in energy balance and lead to obesity. Obese adolescents throughout their life have a higher risk of suffering from a number of health problems such as stroke. Obesity in adolescents can cause physical problems such as back pain and psychological problems such as depression. Health interventions that focus on behavioral factors can be an effort to overcome obesity. This study was conducted to determine the factors that influence the incidence of obesity in late adolescents at SMA Muhammadiyah 2 Sidoarjo.
Method: This study used a cross-sectional approach. Samples were taken using a total sampling technique of 30 obese respondents. The research instruments were attitude questionnaire, PAQ-A, and family support. The statistical test used is the Spearman test with a significant level of = 0.05.
Results: Showed that there was no significant relationship between obesity level and attitude (ρ-value = 0.247), physical activity (ρ-value = 0.295), and family support (ρ-value = 0.377).
Conclusion: It was concluded that there was no relationship between the level of obesity with attitudes, physical activity, and family support in late teens at SMA X Sidoarjo due to the multifactorial causes of obesity in late teens. Factors that influence obesity can be seen from other factors, namely knowledge, nutritional intake, family income, friend support, and teacher support.
