Abstract

Background: Hypertension, or high blood pressure, is one of the most serious public health issues in the world, including Indonesia. The urgency of properly managing hypertension is essential to reduce the risk of heart disease, stroke, kidney failure, and other life-threatening complications. Several risk factors that can trigger hypertension include age, family history, obesity, smoking, alcohol consumption, lack of physical activity, stress, and diet. These factors are generally interconnected and can influence each other. Understanding these risk factors is identical to knowledge and attitudes, making it important to effectively prevent and control hypertension.

Objective: This research aims to analyze the relationship between knowledge and attitude with the degree of hypertension in Modayag Induk Village.

Method: Type of observational analytical research using a cross-sectional study design. The entire population of hypertension patients is 98 people. The sample size is 98 people. The sampling technique used is total sampling. Data analysis uses the chi-square test. The analysis employs univariate and bivariate analysis.

Results: Research shows that knowledge (p=0.001; OR=4.237) and attitudes (p=0.012; OR=3.286) are related to the degree of hypertension in Modayag Induk Village.

Conclusion: There is a relationship between knowledge and attitudes with the degree of hypertension in Modayag Induk Village. It is expected that the UPTD Modayag Health Center will establish cross-sector collaboration and conduct outreach to the community, especially high-risk groups, to promote a healthy lifestyle.
