Abstract

Background: Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is an environment-based disease transmitted through mosquito vectors of the species Aedes aegypti and Aedes Albopictus. Dengue hemorrhagic fever cases in the Juanda Health Center work area have increased, according to data from the Samarinda City Health Office, in 2022 it was included in the top 3 cases of dengue fever after the Air Putih and Temindung areas, which were 137 cases, then increased to 227 cases in 2023. The purpose of the study was to determine the relationship between the frequency of water reservoir sensing and the existence of water reservoir covers in RT 23 Air Hitam Village, Samarinda City.

Objective: The purpose of the study was to determine the relationship between the frequency of water reservoir sensing, the existence of water reservoir covers and residential density in RT 23 Air Hitam Village, Samarinda City.

Method: This type of research is a quantitative research using a cross sectional approach. The research sample was 59 respondents with a sampling technique, namely random sampling.

Results: The results of the study showed a relationship between the frequency of draining water reservoirs (p=0.024<α=0.1) and existence of water reservoir covers (p=0.081<α=0.1) with the incidence of dengue fever in RT 23, Air Hitam Village, Samarinda.

Conclusion: Suggestions for the community in RT 23 Air Hitam Village are to actively carry out mutual cooperation to clean the surrounding environment, drain the water reservoir a maximum of 1 time a week and close the existing water reservoir so that mosquitoes do not easily breed in the water reservoir.
