Abstract
Background: Air, as one of the essential environmental components, is crucial for sustaining life. Metabolic processes in living organisms cannot occur without the oxygen present in the air. Air consists of a mixture of gases, primarily 78% nitrogen, 20% oxygen, 0.93% argon, and 0.30% carbon dioxide, along with other trace gases. Good quality air can be evaluated based on physical parameters such as temperature, humidity, noise, light intensity, and wind speed..
Objective: This study aims to assess air quality conditions in the areas of Tangerang City and South Tangerang City.
Method: This study uses a descriptive observational approach, conducting observations at four locations: Aulia Islamic Kindergarten and Graha Raya Modern Market in Tangerang City, as well as Cirendeu Boarding House and Pondok Kacang Fresh Market in South Tangerang City.
Results: Findings from this research indicate that air quality, based on physical parameters in Tangerang City and South Tangerang City, is not yet optimal, as several measured values exceed standard thresholds. In particular, Graha Raya Modern Market shows an indoor humidity level of 61.9%, exceeding the normal standard of 60%.
Conclusion: Air quality in Banten Province still requires special attention. High temperatures, humidity, and disturbances in several locations have exceeded the established threshold, increasing the risk of public health problems such as respiratory diseases and tuberculosis.
