Abstract
Background: In the United States, more than 143 million people work using computers. A consequence of a
review conducted by the American Optometric Affiliation shows that more than 10 million eye examinations
each year are performed for eye problems in computer users and more than 1,000,000 cases.
Objective: The research aimed to determine the factors associated with eye fatigue in computer operators at
the Population and Civil Registration Service of Bone Bolango Regency, Gorontalo Regency, and Gorontalo
City.
Method: The research uses observational analytics with a cross-sectional approach. The sample was
computer operators in the Population and Civil Registration Service of Bone Bolango Regency, Gorontalo
Regency, and Gorontalo City, totaling 48 respondents. The data Accidental sampling using a questionnaire
sheet. Data analysis used the chi-square test.
Results: The results of the research using the chi-square test showed that the age variable 0.001 (p≤0.05)
was a significant or related variable. For the variables, gender 0.157 (p>0.05), working hours 1,000
(p>0.05), length of service 0.487 (p>0.05), and lighting 0.185 (p>0.05) are variables that are not significant
or not related.
Conclusion: Try not to work with a distance between the monitor and your eyes <50cm because a monitor
distance too close can result in eye strain, fatigue, and potential visual impairment.
