Abstract
Background: Indonesia faces three major nutritional problems: undernutrition, micronutrient deficiencies,
and overnutrition. Obesity poses a serious threat to children's health, as it can impede growth and
development, learning processes, and increase the risk of diseases in adulthood. Nutrition education on good
and balanced eating patterns using appropriate media is essential for addressing obesity. One such approach
is education through quartet card games about Isi Piringku (My Plate).
Objective: The purpose of this study To analyze the effect of quartet card educational media on changes in
knowledge and attitudes of elementary school students regarding Isi Piringku.
Method: This study applied a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group. The research
population comprised 85 fifth-grade students from SDN Ciparigi. The minimum sample size, calculated using
Slovin's formula with a 5% error margin and 10% dropout rate, was 77 subjects. Subjects were selected via
purposive sampling. Data analysis utilized the wilcoxon test and mann-whitney test.
Results: The majority of respondents were female (53.5%), with a mean age of 11 years. The highest
nutritional problem among fifth-grade students at SDN Ciparigi was obesity (15.1%). Wilcoxon test results
indicated significant improvements in knowledge and attitudes (p=0.001). The Mann-Whitney U test showed
significant differences in knowledge between groups (p=0.001), but not in attitudes (p=0.983).
Conclusion: Education using quartet cards effectively improved knowledge but showed no significant effect
on attitude changes between groups. It is recommended that this media be more widely adopted and further
developed so that knowledge gains extend beyond the elementary school where the study was conducted.
