Abstract

Background: The proportion of the risk of Chronic Energy Deficiency (KEK) in pregnant women according to Province in Indonesia is 17.3% consisting in North Kalimantan, which is 14.4%, and in Aceh Province as well which is 14.8% higher than North Kalimantan. In addition, in Gorontalo area, there are still many pregnant women who are at risk of choking, which is 15.5%.

Objective:  This type of research is analytic observational with a cross-sectional design. The population is all pregnant women in several health centers in Gorontalo regency. The sample is 307 people. And the sampling technique is purposive sampling. Data is collected using a questionnaire.

Method:  he results of research using the chi-square test showed that energy intake, protein intake, fat intake (<0.05) were related to the incidence of chronic energy deficiency in several Gorontalo Regency Health Center Working Areas.

Results: There is a relationship between protein intake and the incidence of Chronic Energy Deficiency in pregnant women (p value 0.000<0.05) and There is a relationship between protein intake and the incidence of Chronic Energy Deficiency in pregnant women (p value 0.000<0.05). It is hoped that all Community Health Centers can improve their program for handling CED pregnant women and carry out early detection of factors that cause CED in pregnant women.
