Abstract

Background: Low back pain refers to the discomfort felt in the lower back areas, which can stem from various sources such as the spinal area, muscles, nerves, or other surrounding structures. Based on the preliminary study conducted on 5 tailors from 2 locations in Kotamobagu City, it was found that 80% (4 tailors) experienced low back pain (LBP), while 20% (1 tailor) did not experience LBP. The preliminary study results indicated that there are several tailors in Kotamobagu City who experience low back pain (LBP) complaints.
Objective: The study seeks to determine the factors related to age, gender, working period, sitting duration and sitting posture with complaints of low back pain in tailors in Kotamobagu City.
Method: This quantitative research applied analytic descriptive method with cross-sectional approach. The total sample comprised of 65 respondents, while sampling technique used is total sampling. Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate analysis, using the chi square test.
Results: Research shows that there is a relationship between sitting position (ρ value=0.005) and sitting time (ρ value=0.002) with complaints of low back pain in convection tailors in Kotamobagu City.
Conclusion: Sitting position and sitting time are related to complaints of low back pain in convection tailors in Kotamobagu City. It is hoped that all convection tailors will increase awareness about the importance of maintaining body posture when working to avoid back diseases, namely low back pain, so that work can be more productive and production quality can be improved.
